In today's fast-paced world, where distractions lurk at every corner, honing our ability to concentrate has become an invaluable skill.

So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage, settle in, and let's embark on this conversation about enhancing our focus and achieving greatness.

Assessing Digital Habits & Identifying Triggers

In our increasingly connected world, our digital habits play a significant role in shaping our ability to focus. It's crucial to take a step back and assess how our interactions with technology impact our concentration and overall well-being.

‘Where focus goes, energy flows. And where energy flows, whatever you're focusing on grows.’ - Tony Robbins

By evaluating our digital habits, we can make intentional choices that promote focus and minimize distractions. Here's how you can assess and optimize your digital habits:

 Awareness of Digital Distractions:

Technology is a double-edged sword. While it can aid productivity, it also presents a multitude of distractions. Social media notifications, email alerts, and instant messages can constantly interrupt your workflow.

Are you mindlessly scrolling through social media for hours? Do you find yourself constantly switching between apps or getting caught in a loop of refreshing emails?

Understanding your current habits is the first step towards change.

 Time Audit:

Conduct a digital time audit to gain insight into how much time you spend on various digital activities. There are apps and tools available that can track your usage across different platforms.

Review the data and identify any patterns or excessive time spent on non-essential tasks.

For e.g. I used to spend more than 2 hours per day on social media….that amounts to 28 days in a Year!

Basically I was throwing away a month of my life each year. This had to stop.

This awareness will help you identify areas where you can reclaim time for focused work.

Next we’ll look at Internal and External Triggers that can derail your focus.

Internal Triggers

 Emotional States

Emotional states can greatly influence our ability to focus. Stress, anxiety, or negative emotions can hijack our attention and make it challenging to concentrate.

Identify the emotional triggers that impede your focus. It could be an overwhelming workload, personal concerns, or specific situations that generate stress.

External Triggers:

 Environmental Factors:

Your physical environment plays a significant role in your ability to concentrate. Noise, visual clutter, and interruptions can all act as triggers that disrupt your focus.

Pay attention to the specific environmental factors that impact your concentration. Is it the chatter of colleagues, the sound of traffic, or the presence of cluttered surroundings?

Steps for Conquering back your Focus
